IT'S THAT TIME OF YEAR!!!

NFFR's 2009 Revolution Award nominations have officially begun!

grr  Nuts!  Go bananas!

The following categories are to be on the ballot:

Over-All Best Story: Completed
Over-All Best Story: In-Progress
Best Story: Romance
Best Story: Drama
Best Story: Action/Adventure
Best Story: Comedy
Most Creative Story

Best Established Author
Best New Author

Best One-Shot

Before we begin, we have some rules:

- All stories that have three nominations will be approved by the Screening Team for quality before they go on the ballot. This is to ensure quality. Don't nominate a story if you aren't sure if it will pass NFFR's guidelines!!!
- Authors may not nominate themselves, but they may ask their readers to nominate them.
- Nominators may nominate as many stories/authors as they want for any category.
- Stories/authors may be on the ballot in more than one category, so you may nominate them for whichever categories they deserve.

Clarification of Categories:

Over-All Best Story: Completed

Over-All Best Story: In-Progress - Must have been updated between Jan 1, 2009 and the time the nom process ends. It doesn't matter when it was started. Best Story: Drama - Drama must have been a major part of the story. May be in-progress or completed. Must have been updated at least 5 times between Jan 1, 2009 and the time the nom process ends. This is to ensure that this author is active and participating in the Narnia community this year.

Best Story: Action/Adventure - A/A must have been a major part of the story. May be in-progress or completed. I'm going to work on the list over the weekend.  Is it ok if we don't have a nomination for every catagory?

Of course! And you don't have to nominate them all at once. You can do it as you think of them.

Must have been updated five times?  Does this mean the story itself must be updated five times?  What if after four times we don't want to change it anymore?  Would adding an additional semicolon count?

Not trying to be crass or arrogant. I'm genuinely puzzled if any of my stories are...or even could be...eligible.

Updated, as in updated on fanfiction.net - you upload and update by chapter. If a person has updated at least 5 times, it means they are still active in the fandom...that way we're not nominating people that no longer have an interest in Narnia fan fiction.

OK... really dumb question here, but I didn't see it... Where/how do we nominate?  Is there a link I didn't see?  or an email that I didn't read?

I can certainly give proper appearances by getting a fanfiction.net account and uploading stories I wrote last week incrementally, but I'd rather have an honest alternative.  I paid an arm and a leg for my own domain where my stories (and those of friends) would rest and it would be a shame if that disqualified me.

Sure I could have just done it and not said anything, but it doesn't feel right somehow.  You folks are my friends, I don't want to deceive you, even for harmless reasons.  There should be more than one official place to post if it is registered in advance.  Just my two cents, not an angry rant.

I have a question about the 'must have been updated 5 times this year.' What if we don't know how many times a particular story has been updating this year? As far as I know (and I've only been on FFN since January, so I could have overlooked something...) the only update date that I know about is the most recent that is posted with the story's info. Is there a way to find out whether or not the story's been updated 5 times this year, or is my only alternative to ask the author?

(This is doubtful, but what if the author doesn't even know? Does this make the story ineligible for nomination?)

Come to think of it, I think that most people should ask for permission or let the author of a story know that they are nominating their work. Just saying...

I'd imagine the 5 updates is only a general guideline as opposed to a strict rule--just to make sure the nominees are still active in the fandom so that unfinished, abandoned stories aren't nominated. But again, that's Tami or Tasty's call.

Maybe it should be updated in the last two or three months or something. I don't believe I can even look up on my own stories past update dates.
